Sunday Morning Broadcast

"Build Before the Storm: Hearing, Doing, and Standing"

Key Scripture: Matthew 7:24; James 1:22; John 6:68

From the anchor desk

Grace and peace, Mount Zion. This is Spiritual News Alert.

Today we ask a question every one of us must answer: What are you building your life on? Jesus spoke of two builders. Both heard His words, but only one obeyed, and only one house stood when the storm came.

"Everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."

(Matthew 7:24)

Let us receive our reports.

REPORT 1

THE WORDS OF LIFE, WHOSE VOICE ARE YOU BUILDING ON?

Jesus is not simply one more voice offering helpful advice. He speaks as King. In the Sermon on the Mount, He shows us life under the Father's reign: humility, mercy, forgiveness, prayer, trust and love.

Today we can become knowledgeable about Christianity without letting Jesus shape how we live. Information is not the same as formation.

When many were turning away, Peter said: "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life." (John 6:68)

Listening to Jesus is not only gaining information. It is receiving life from the Good Shepherd. His sheep hear His voice, He knows them, and they follow Him.

This is the first truth: Jesus speaks words of life. Build on His voice, not on the noise of the world.

REPORT 2

LET LISTENING BECOME PRACTICE

Jesus says the wise person hears His words and puts them into practice. Hearing is the beginning, not the destination.

James compares hearing without responding to looking in a mirror, seeing what needs attention, and walking away as though nothing happened. "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." (James 1:22)

Obedience is not an attempt to earn God's approval. It is the natural fruit of truly listening to Him. As we receive His life, we learn to forgive, to bring our worries to the Father, to treat others as we want to be treated, and to put first things first.

This kind of change usually happens in simple, daily choices. Ask Jesus today to show you one next step of obedience.

This is the second truth: hearing without doing is self-deception. Let listening become practice.

REPORT 3

BUILD BEFORE THE STORM

Matthew 7 gives us contrast after contrast: two roads, two kinds of trees, two responses to Jesus, and now two builders.

One approach to life says, "I will decide what is true, what is good, and what will give me life." The other says, "Father, I trust Your wisdom more than my own."

The storm comes to both builders. The rain falls on the wise and the foolish alike. The difference is not the storm. The difference is the foundation.

This week, choose one teaching from the Sermon on the Mount. Read it slowly, pray over it, and ask Jesus, "What would it look like for me to live this today?" Then turn off distractions and make space to be still before Him.

This is the third truth: the storm will come. Build now. Build on the Rock.

Community & world

OTHER MATTERS

Now, let us look at what is happening in our community and around the world.

From Bamendankwe. On Saturday, 24 October, the Bamendankwe Development and Cultural Association, BAMEDCA, launched its first-ever Youth Wing at the Fon's Palace during its first Youth Conference, and presented a cheque of one million CFA francs to help it start. The new Youth Wing says it will work on unemployment and waste management in our village. Let us pray for our young people, that this effort will build character and not just activity.

From Bamenda. Earlier this month, Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute visited Bamenda to inspect development projects, including the Customs Junction to GBHS Bamendankwe road. He also paid a visit to the Mankon Fon's Palace. Let us pray for peace in our region, and that development will truly serve the people.

From the global church. Open Doors' 2026 World Watch List reports that more than 388 million Christians face high levels of persecution and discrimination, a record high, and Nigeria accounts for 3,490 of the 4,849 faith-related killings recorded. Let us pray for our brothers and sisters in Nigeria and across the world who suffer for Christ.

Closing

Beloved, the storm is real, but the house built on the Rock will stand. Hear the Word. Do the Word. Build on the Rock.

Till we meet again, stay tuned for another episode of Spiritual News Alert. This is the Sunday Morning Voice of Zion. We have been heard in heaven.
